A moderately hard trail involving a steady climb through a canyon on a well established trail. Traversing to the top and across Fremont Saddle offers a fantasic view of Weaver's Needle. You will be in awe of the panoramic views in the depths of the Superstition Wilderness surrounded by Hoodoos. You will also be haunted by the beauty, and dream of the Lost Dutchman and Dutchman hunters who braved these mountains in search of gold.

Rated 2.5
4.0 miles (5 hours)
Elevation = +1200 ft.
Half trail walking and half off-trail, this hike takes you to the fabled Massacre Grounds, continues on to Massacre Falls, which may be dry (remember-this is a desert). You will enjoy views of the Superstitions, Goldfields, and Four Peaks.
Ancient Salado Cliff Dwellings
Rated 3.0
8.2 miles (6 hours)
Elevation = +1100 ft.
Getting to the trailhead is half of the fun. A spectacular ride to the top of the Superstition mountains by off-road vehicle. A downhill hike into the canyon will reveal high desert foliage, some running water in the creek (most times) and reward you with a cliff-side Indian dwellings seldom visited. Unprotected, but relatively safe due to their remoteness, please respect these ruins. Hope you saved some energy for the 4.1 mile trek up the canyon to our awaiting vehicle.
Lost Dutchman Mine Jr.
Rated 3.0
6.5 miles (6 hours)
Elevation = +1100 ft.
A steady climb through the desert landscape will bring us to an area in which many of the Lost Dutchman clues seem to fall into place. Curiosity will drive you on this established but seldom used trail. Be prepared to bushwhack for the last mile by wearing long pants as we will visit two mines. Could either be the Lost Dutchman's mine? Well, if they were - there is not a speck of evidence in the form of the color gold to speak of. A great adventure in which the beauty of the search, and not the objective itself, that is the true reward.
Black Mesa Loop
Rated 3.5
9.0 miles (6 hours)
Elevation = +900 ft.
Involving trail walking, you have to keep moving on this trail due to the increased distance. This loop through the Superstition Wilderness takes you on to the top of Black Mesa and it's cholla forest, down in to Boulder Creek with wonderful views of Weaver's Needle.
