About Us
Apache Trail Tours was founded in 1993 by Jodi Akers, with the main goal of showcasing Arizona to visitors from all over the world. What began as a Jeep Tour business has evolved into a full-service adventure and special event operation which includes unlimited outdoor activities.
Staying in tune with her clients, Jodi has remained focused on their desires for customized adventures, to satisfy even the most particular client. This has given her the insight of not only selling the products and services of her own company, but also the products and services of other area sites and attractions as well. As a company, we are committed to fulfilling the desires and dreams of our guests, exceeding all their expectations and sending them home with incredible memories of Arizona.
On October 7th, 2005, Jodi initiated and co-chaired the Centennial Dedication of the Apache Trail with the Superstition Mountain Historical Society. In her research for the event, she discovered a newly published author - Eva Tulene Watt, a White Mountain Apache. Eva's family was quite instrumental in the building of the Apache Trail and Roosevelt Dam and Eva believes she is the last living Apache to have any recollection of these historical events as they took place. Her book of Apache life with her family from the late 1800's titled "Don't Let the Sun Step Over You" was published in 2004 when Eva was 91. Jodi has interviewed Eva on the reservation, and a copy of that interview can be viewed on our "Apache Trail History" pages. For more information about Eva and to order a copy of her book, please visit our "Eva Tulene Watt" page.
Jodi was a founding member of the Board of Directors for the Arizona Adventure Travel Network (AATN) and was the chairperson of the Education Committee for one year. She also served on the Board of the Apache Junction Chamber of Commerce. Jodi also lectures on the "History of the Apache Trail" for the Superstition Mountain Museum Lecture Series on a yearly basis and has been doing so since 2001.
